What will therapy look like?

Online therapy is a convenient, cost-effective, and accessible route to working with a therapist.

Online Therapy

Orchid House Counseling, LLC is a fully virtual practice that you can access from the comfort of your home or through the ease of your smart device (computer, smartphone, tablet). Online therapy may be a good fit for you if you have an incredibly busy schedule, travel a lot, encounter health impediments that may prevent you from seeking face-to-face therapy, struggle with severe anxiety, depression, and/or PTSD and find it difficult to leave the home, are uncomfortable with the risk of being seen walking into a clinic, or are in a place where therapeutic services are not available. While there is a physical location for my office, my online services enable me to work with any resident in the state of Florida. Whether you’re in Pensacola or the Keys, you have access to care in the comfort of your home. It is also helpful for those with incredibly busy schedules where the commute time for therapy can be a factor in why it is difficult to go.

The Therapeutic Process

Often times we find ourselves in difficult life situations and ask, “how did I end up here?” While our mind may be trying to look for one solitary answer, it is often the subtle experiences in between that can contribute to feeling stuck, anxious, uncertain, lost, or hopeless.

Other times we may find ourselves stuck in our own growth due to trauma, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, difficult life transitions, or conflicted relationships. We will work together to reach a shared understanding of where your concerns come from and what factors in your life play a role in what you’d like to change.

We’ll look at your current life, your early life, and even your “life” in the therapy room with me to see if we can find themes that exist in all three areas. When we discover those kinds of thematic issues, it helps us to know that we are working on a “core” issue. Core issues can initially feel harder to work on and can bring up more pain, but ultimately can provide longer term relief. We will also do things to bring immediate relief to areas of suffering – for example if you struggle with sleep, anger, or anxiety, we’ll assess it deeply and then practice strategies to overcome it.
